it's very important to select in PLITCH the correct addon, so if you play a game including the "Brave New World" addon/DLC, you've to select this entry in PLITCH... or in case of "Gods & Kings" addon/DLC without "Brave New World" you've to use this one in PLITCH... and if you don't have any of these 2 active, you've to use the normal Civ5 entry 😉
I have both DLC and can't use cheats at all😢

have you tried the "Brave New World" entry in Plitch?
Are you playing DX9 or DX10/11?

When launching the game you can select whether you want to play DX9 or DX11

Depending on the option, you need to select the same version in Plitch.

I am having the same issue.
- Decided to clean install Civ 5 (all DLCs available) today after several years.
- Started game through trainer, and decided to play "into the Renaissance" scenario.
- I have not selected any mods.
- Found out that the BNW DX11 trainer does no recognize this as correct game.
- Switched to G+K DX 11 trainer, still no good.
- Base game DX11 registers as correct.
- To be safe, I exit the game and relaunch Civ 5 Vanilla DX11 through trainer.
- Ensured that DX 10/11 option is selected from launcher.
- Green "Play" button switches to red "Quit Game" button as I load the scenario.
- "Prepare cheats" option highlights as selectable.
- Selecting cheat or using shortcut keys does NOT active the cheat.
- Neither will the handful of selectable cheats (Infinite Movement, i.e.).
- I have used the Plitch trainer for this game years ago successfully, and recently on Civ 6.
